Jacob M. Monty was appointed to the University of Houston System Board of Regents by Governor Rick Perry and will serve through August 31, 2013. Mr. Monty is Managing Partner of the labor and employment law firm Monty Partners LLP, the largest Hispanic-owned law firm in the Southwest. He is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Monty was appointed by President George W. Bush to the boards of directors for both the North American Development Bank and the Border Environmental Cooperation Commission. He was appointed by Governor Perry to serve on the Board of Directors for the Texas Mutual Insurance Company. Mr. Monty serves on the boards of directors of the National Association of Corporate Directors, Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Alliance for Progress, and Hispanics for Opportunity, Progress and Education. He is on the Roundtable of the District Director of Houston for the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service, and also serves as general counsel to the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans and outside counsel for the Mexican Consulate in Houston. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. 2/2008 |
